2010-02-05 - Pure Groove Showcase
The people of London are clearly made of stirling stuff, Braving the wind and the rain, Tuesday's Canadian Blast showcase at Pure Groove saw a packed house right from the get go. Word of the sucess of last years show with Dan Mangan and Kae Sun, the store started filling up early, and by the time Deromantic took the stage armed with his guitar and harmonica it was standing room early. Although he admitted afterwards that it was a little unnerving to be so up close and personal with the audience, Steve's set was received in rapt attention. Brooklyn's "She Keeps Bees" followed with their slow burning garage blues and touring tales, before Sheffield's littlelostdavid elicited "oohs" of wonder with his remarkable vocal range. After the show artists mixed with the audience while Canadian Blast djs worked their magic on the decks. What can be learned from the nights show? Londoner's love a song they can stomp, clap or holler along to! |
