So here we are at SXSW once again. The year surely passes by quickly. This is an especially exciting year for all of us here.
There are more Canadian bands showcasing than ever before and the interactive section of SXSW, both the trade show and parties, is bigger than ever.
A third of Canadian companies joining us on the stand are interactive.
This festival just keeps getting better and better.
Today, with the Canada Stand in full swing we celebrated the SXSW trade show block party, held from 4PM - 6PM across country and company stands.
For us, a block party means one thing: French toast and maple syrup. And as usual, it went as quickly as it was provided.
For the first time, bands were invited to showcase on the stand with acoustic sets.
The first act to perform was Les Jupes, featuring toned-down versions of tracks off their debut album, 'Modern Myths'.
The party has surely begun.
But this is the calm before the storm here at Canadian Blast headquarters.
Final preparations are being made for two of our flagship events tomorrow, the Canadian Blast BBQ and the international Country Connections speed dating.
The BBQ, featuring Library Voices, Said The Whale featuring Dan Mangan, Whitehorse, Rich Aucoin and The Sheepdogs will kick off at 3PM in Brush Square, rain or shine.
The networking will happen before, from 11AM - 12:30PM across eight different country pavilion stands, including ours and our neighbours, the UK. Following this we will move straight into Canada House mode at Old School Bar & Grill, but not until Thursday.
In addition to this, Planet Quebec has its launch party tonight, featuring Ariane Moffat and Half Moon Run among others, and other Canadians showcasing include hip-hoppers Teenburger and More or Les alongside Halifax's Jesse Dangerously.
All eyes are firmly placed on tomorrow's BBQ. Will report back with the goings on then.
Have a great SXSW until then.
