CMJ
2007 - New York
SXSW, UK, NYC!! After owning Austin
and letting London have it, Canadian
Blast rolls into New York for its
first-ever CMJ showcase in the crucible
of cool. On Thursday, Oct. 18, we're
gonna blow out Fat Baby's ConEd with
a five-band power-surge of new music.
Flip the switch on these Northern
Lights:
For one night, Manhattan sticks a
Maple Leaf in its hipster fedora,
and Fat Baby gets a damn good spanking.
It's a rock'n'roll Blast from the
country that turned cold into cool.
It's Canada: like America, only-higher.

CANADIAN
BLAST HITS CMJ
Thursday,
October 18 at Fat Baby
Presenting a wide musical cross-section
of bubbling-under bands from the land
where the loonie now trumps the benjamin,
the Canadian BLAST at CMJ will showcase
the suburban hip-hop of Cadence Weapon;
the gritty all-girl sound of Hunter
Valentine; the artisanal alt-pop songwriting
of Winston; Wintersleep?s alt-rock
intelligence; and Uncut?s unbridled
hard rock.
The
Canadian BLAST will inaugurate a CMJ
edition of the highly successful Canadian
music showcase on Thursday, October
18 at Fat Baby, 112 Rivington Street
between Ludlow and Essex in Manhattan
beginning at 7:30pm. The careers of
artists such as The Cliks, The Golden
Dogs, Malajube and The Trews have
all benefited significantly from the
tangible buzz of previous Canadian
BLAST events in the US.
The Canadian BLAST at CMJ is a comprehensive
marketing, networking and business
development initiative supported by
a government-industry partnership
that includes CIRPA (Canadian Independent
Record Production Association), SOCAN
(Society of Composers, Authors and
Music Publishers of Canada), and the
Government of Canada.
